Lost in Translation: Hauntingly good

February 8, 2004

Yesterday, I went and bought Lost in Translation on DVD. I’ve spent a good part of today still thinking about it. For me, it’s been one of those movies that I’ve immediately watched all the special features and still wanting more. I probably would have watched it again today if I didn’t have other plans. Bill Murray was absolutely great in the movie. Sophia Coppola’s screenplay was really excellent. And where the heck did Scarlett Johansson come from? The chemistry between her and Bill was really something else. The movie itself was a initially a bit unsatisfying, leaving me with the feeling that something was missing… until the end which was so poignant and emotional.

I love movies that make you think about them for days.

The Matrix Reloaded: Accurate computing, Carre-Anne Moss almost nude.
Swordfish: Laughable computing, Halle Berry topless.
Winner and still champion: Swordfish

The comment.

Too bad I didn’t have moderator access. That comment definitely deserved a Funny.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Finally broke down and went to go see the new LOTR, and I must say I was impressed. It really kept my interest better than the first one, especially since fantasy has never been my favorite genre. It had a faster and more consistent pace than the first one, and more action overall. I must say I’m looking forward to the final one now.

Also, I was super impressed with Golam. For a CG (computer generated) character, he was very fluid and his movement and mannerisms were near perfect. And he had absolutely no Jar Jar like qualities, which is always a good thing.
