Aspirin May Lower Risk of Hodgkin’s

Meant to post this a few days ago when I originally saw it, but forgot. Every few months something new comes out about Hodgkins, whether it be a new possible cause or new treatment, etc. What I found interesting was the fact that they saw a 70% increase in users of Tylenol, which I’ve taken all my life…

Either way, I still blame the Hodgkins Fairy.

Protected: Ah, the sounds of Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2004

* Lots of movement on hardwood floors of neighbors above me
Me thinking: 7:15 ? What no dinner before the good stuff?

* Running back and forth
Me: Well they are young… this could be a long night.

* Sounds of objects being thrown, possibly bodies falling
Me: Um… that doesn’t sound good… so they’re THAT way…

Man (through ceiling/vents): Get the hell off me!
Woman: ? High pitched yelling (unintelligble)
Man: Get the hell off of me!
Woman: ? More high pitched yelling (still unintelligble)
Man: You’re a f*cking c*nt!

* More scurrying

So far, no one has come down, slamming the door… But it should be interesting, as they only have one car.

(I guess now that I know they’re weird, I’ll have to tell my other stories about them… later though)

Today’s homework assignment

Work the following phrase into a normal conversation:

Hence, do the needful.

Bonus points if the other party does not give you the weirdest look you’ve ever seen.

(Taken from an actual email exchange with one of my co-workers from India. Frankly, I’m half expecting them to be laughing on their end from all the weird idioms we use in our language.)

Lost in Translation: Hauntingly good

February 8, 2004

Yesterday, I went and bought Lost in Translation on DVD. I’ve spent a good part of today still thinking about it. For me, it’s been one of those movies that I’ve immediately watched all the special features and still wanting more. I probably would have watched it again today if I didn’t have other plans. Bill Murray was absolutely great in the movie. Sophia Coppola’s screenplay was really excellent. And where the heck did Scarlett Johansson come from? The chemistry between her and Bill was really something else. The movie itself was a initially a bit unsatisfying, leaving me with the feeling that something was missing… until the end which was so poignant and emotional.

I love movies that make you think about them for days.
