Modding is not a privilege

June 22, 2003

So I was reading my favorite website, Slashdot, tonight, browsing at the lowest filter setting, so I could use my moderation points. (For the uninitiated, that means, I was reading comments with no filters, so all the crap comes through, mixed in with the good stuff). What did I see?

XXXXXXX DIES AT THE END OF THE NEW HP BOOK

Ok, there was a name there, but since I don’t want to spoil it for anyone else, and I don’t even know if it’s true, I’ve deleted it. Trolls on Slashdot are trying to ruin Harry Potter for me! This happened once before when a radio station gave away the “secret” in The Sixth Sense.

Anyway, I’ve only read the first two books anyway, so I have several thousand pages ahead of me before I find out who dies. I doubt the secret will last that long.

Yahoo! News – Patients Prefer Doctors Who Wear White Lab Coat

In response to my note about taking a vacation day tomorrow…

I’ve mentioned this in passing before, but also need to send out a reminder. Tomorrow, I will work a half day – in the morning. Unlike David, I won’t be having any fun. Let’s just say tomorrow afternoon I’m going to make sure the two children I love dearly are the only children I will have. I’ll be catching up over the weekend, however, as I need to avoid any real exertion and may as well work on documentation. I’ll also be working from home Monday.

Too much information!
