A lot of people made plans before the war…
Hi! What’s up? How’s life? Yep, if you were wondering, I’m still here. Can’t believe I waited so long to write a journal. Oh well, I’m a lover, not a
writer :)
I wish I could say that I’m having such an easy and wonderful time with chemo, that I didn’t feel like writing. Fact of the matter is, it still pretty much sucks. Treatment #4 was really bad (more than 3 weeks
ago now). I was sick from about half an hour after it started, until a few days later. It was marred by delays, as was this past week’s chemo (#5). But, alas, I think we’ve come to a crossroads regarding that. My
oncologist is going to start me on a colony growth factor called Neupogen. The purpose of this drug is to stimulate the production of the white blood cells
in the bone marrow. As an added bonus, I get to give myself injections of it, and the number one side effect is mild to moderate bone pain (yay!). Can someone say, “Good news, bad news?” But, hey, if it keeps me on
schedule for the rest of my treatment, I’m all for it. Being repeatedly denied chemo was really working my nerves.
What else… Well, it’s been a very busy month with a lot going on. Work, life, family, etc. Next
week I turn 25 (May 20)… My present to myself will be a Neupogen injection :) Next weekend, my sister is graduating college. So, we’ll be heading up to Vermont for a fun-filled celebration. Plus, summer is rapidly
approaching… You know what that means? Yep! Stay out of the sun because you’re on chemo!
OK, I’m not happy with the tone of this entry. It’s decidedly maudlin. I’ve had quite a few more upbeat days, and I
should have chosen one of those to write a journal entry. It’s just that I’m really exhausted today (it’s day #4 after chemo, usually one of the worst for exhaustion). So I’ll cut this a little short.

Hope everyone out there is doing well. Keep up the good fight!
